For Kimirina, as reported by UNAIDS and the Stop AIDS Alliance, community-based research is essential to ensure that policy-makers and program-planners are well informed about:
- The needs of the communities to which they intend to convey their policies and programs; and
- The true impact, availability, accessibility, financial viability, acceptance, quality and effectiveness of the services and policies that they currently offer (or intend to offer).
- In addition to informing others, community research is also an important source of information for communities to guide services, awareness and actions.
