PrEP (Pre Exposure Prophylaxis) is a biomedical strategy that consists of taking a pill daily that prevents HIV infection in people who are HIV negative and who for any reason have risky practices and are more susceptible to contracting it.

On your first visit to Corporación Kimirina to access the PrEP service, you will be tested for HIV to verify that you are seronegative, tests for hepatitis B and C, syphilis and a test to evaluate your kidney function, in addition to the medical consultation and STI treatment, if you have any.

In the first trimester in PrEP you will have two medical checkups and then one check every three months.

You will be tested for HIV at each checkup and an STI assessment. All this also includes the medicine, which you will have to withdraw monthly or quarterly personally.

PrEP is currently available in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil and will soon be nationwide.
